Spotlight: Thitinun Boonseng

Thitinun “Ta” Boonseng, a doctoral student in Information Science and Learning Technologies, came to the U.S. from Thailand when he was in high school. He earned a bachelor of arts in computer science in 2001 and a master's of education in 2003, both from Mizzou. His main research interest is online education and collaboration.

Besides being in the right kind of town, I also like the fact that Mizzou is a very diverse place. Since I’ve been here, I’ve met international students from all over the world. I’ve learned a lot about other cultures, which has really given me the kind of perspective that I wouldn’t have gotten studying in Thailand.

Ta serves as president of the Missouri International Student Council. In spring 2007, he began teaching a remote course about e-learning to students in Thailand.
