How to Apply for Graduate Admission

Which type of admission describes what you want?
Degree-Seeking, Graduate (on-campus and online)

Earn a master’s, doctoral or educational specialist degree.

Most applicants will start here, including: new domestic and international applicants, online degree-seeking students through MU Direct, transfer students and former Mizzou undergraduates who graduated more than one semester before applying for graduate admission.

Current Mizzou undergraduates and returning Mizzou graduate students follow different instructions.

Degree-Seeking, Professional

The School of Law, School of Medicine, and College of Veterinary Medicine have their own application processes.

Non-Degree, Post- Baccalaureate (online through MU Direct)

Distance students can apply to become an online post-baccalaureate graduate student through our continuing and distance education program, MU Direct.

Non-Degree, Post-Baccalaureate (on-campus)

Take a few classes without being in a degree program, start classes while awaiting formal admission to a degree program, or pursue a stand-alone graduate certificate that doesn’t require degree-program enrollment.

Non-Degree, UM Traveling Scholar (on-campus)

Take a few courses at Mizzou while pursuing a graduate degree at another University of Missouri campus.

Non-Degree, Missouri Undergraduate Senior (on-campus)

Take some graduate course work while you finish your undergraduate degree.

Eligibility

Because requirements vary, you must refer to a degree program's graduate admission page to learn about specific admission criteria, application deadlines, eligibility, and application process. To find a department or program's Web page, refer to the A-Z list of 2008-2009 graduate degrees. Click on the degree of interest to find the Web page. Note that each degree program at MU establishes its own application deadlines and requirements for admission!
