Coverage & Bill Pay: Graduate Tuition Waivers

What is Covered?

Covered
Resident and non-resident educational fees
Not Covered
Incidental fees, such as computing, activity, health or supplemental fees

The tuition waver only pays up to the grad rate for eligible courses. Courses with a higher tuition rate will be covered up to the grad rate, and the student will be responsible for the difference.

Caveats

Waivers of Missouri resident and non-resident educational fees will be provided for qualifying individuals from the Tuition Waiver Program except in cases where resident fees are paid from other sources, such as grants and contracts.

Waivers of non-resident educational fees will be provided to qualifying students, based on the criteria described on this Web site, who are supported by funded research, training grants or contracts.

Qualifying Courses

All courses that are relevant and applicable to your degree program and approved by your adviser will be covered by the waiver. An eligibility check will be done every semester on the courses that students take, including the summer session. If you take a course that is not approved by your department or adviser, you will be responsible for total cost of that course.

How Payment Works

Do students with a tuition waiver need to pay anything when they get their bill the first time?
Yes. Students must pay the minimum amount due as shown on their billing statements, or they will be dropped from their classes, will need to re-register and will be charged a late registration fee.
What if a student is supposed to get a waiver, but it is not in place when the first bill is due?
  1. Students should first check with their department to make sure they are supposed to get a tuition waiver and that the form has been sent to the tuition waiver coordinator.
  2. If the form has been sent, then students should check with the Cashier's office to make sure the tuition waiver is not already on their student account. If it is not on the student account, then the student should talk to the Graduate School's tuition waiver coordinator at 884-2326 to find out what the problem is.
Please note that students are responsible for their fees whether or not they are supposed to have a tuition waiver. Students will be dropped from classes and have to re-register and pay a late fee if they do not make a minimum payment by the due date.
