- This award has been established to reward distinguished scholarship and research. Nominated dissertations should represent original work which makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline. Both methodological and substantive quality will be judged.

- John Bies International Travel Scholarships for ABD Doctoral Students
- Named for noted alumnus John Bies, the Bies International Travel scholarship provides funding support to doctoral students traveling internationally.
- Donald K. Anderson Awards for Teaching and Research Assistants
- The Donald K. Anderson Graduate Teaching Assistant Award and the Donald K. Anderson Graduate Research Assistant Award are given to outstanding graduate students at Mizzou. Students serving as teaching or research assistants are eligible.
