John Bies International Travel Scholarships for ABD Doctoral Students

Eligibility

University of Missouri ABD students (doctoral students who have successfully completed doctoral comprehensive/matriculation examinations and have been admitted to doctoral candidacy) are eligible for International Professional Presentation Travel Scholarships and International Dissertation Research Travel Scholarships.

Use of Scholarship

These scholarships are to be used to defray transportation expenses associated with travel to international professional meetings (e.g., annual conferences of professional societies) or defray international transportation expenses associated with research oriented travel to libraries and archive or manuscript repositories, art museums, archaeological or geological sites, and special interviews. Presentations or travel on Latin America or other developing countries are especially encouraged.

ABD students are strongly encouraged to submit applications well before the stated deadlines. Awards will be dispensed as reimbursements after winners have submitted required documents and travel receipts to the Graduate School. Award amounts will not exceed $1500. An ABD student may receive only one Dissertation Research Travel Scholarship, Professional Presentation Travel Scholarship, or International Travel Scholarship.
