Assessment and Certification of Postdoctoral Work
Review of Progress and Assessment
Faculty mentors will formally review the progress of each Postdoctoral Scholar working under their direction at least annually to ensure that trainees have a clear understanding of the status and progress of their work and educational advancement. If the postdoctoral position provides an opportunity for advancement of the trainee from junior to senior status, progress toward achieving that goal should also be noted. Copies of the review document will be provided to the trainee, department chair and the Office of Postdoctoral Education in the Graduate School.
Upon completion of their training, postdoctoral scholars are expected to participate in an Exit Assessment of the quality of their postdoctoral training and experience with the Office of Postdoctoral Education in the Graduate School. The purpose of the Exit Assessment is to determine whether the trainee’s expectations were met, to provide data for postdoctoral program improvement and to generate information regarding the placement of postdoctoral scholars. With permission of the Postdoctoral Scholar, the results of this assessment will be shared with the faculty mentor and department chair. This Exit Assessment does not preclude conducting exit interviews at the departmental level.
Certification of Postdoctoral Work
The Registrar will, at the request of the Postdoctoral Scholar, issue a transcript recognizing the completion of postdoctoral training and course work at the University of Missouri provided that the trainee was Financially Enrolled during a term of appointment of at least one semester or more. In that the Exit Assessment (described above) is considered part of the training, the transcript will not be released until this document has been submitted.
