The Federal CARES Act has allocated emergency financial aid grants to students who are unable to pay for expenses they have incurred as a result of the disruption to campus operations due to the COVID-19 circumstances. Expenses that you can request assistance for from this fund include food, housing, technology, travel to/from campus to a student’s home, out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance, and potentially other expenses related to your cost of attendance.
In order to help as many students as possible, award amounts will range from $50 to $1,000. The application will ask you to explain the expenses that you have incurred for this spring 2020 term as a result of transitioning from being an on-campus or study abroad student to remote learning. A committee will review applications for extraordinary circumstances, and some awards may exceed $1,000 on a very limited basis with supporting documentation for expenses.
