As part of the Graduate School’s framework for professional development, we offer a variety of events to support graduate students’ career exploration and preparation. Check the Graduate School calendar for upcoming events and register for individual sessions on MU Engage. 

On-Campus: Grad Friday Focus

Focused on career fundamentals, this first Friday monthly workshop series is open to graduate students in any discipline and at any stage of their degree program. Visit MU Engage for details and registration. 

Virtual and On-Demand: Beyond the Professoriate 

Beyond the Professoriate is an online professional development resource designed specifically for doctoral students and postdocs. The platform provides tools and guidance to explore diverse career options and develop effective job search strategies. Through two tailored programs of study—Academic Careers and Professional Careers—you’ll gain insights and advice from PhDs who have successfully navigated the job market, empowering you to make informed career decisions.

Accessing the platform is simple:

1. Visit Beyond the Professoriate’s Career Training Platform.
2. Select “University of Missouri.”
3. Log in using your institutional credentials.

Request a Workshop or Presentation 

We are available to visit your department or organization and offer tailored career programming. Consider having us present a customized workshop at: 

• graduate orientations 

• professional development seminars 

• graduate student organization meetings 

• faculty meetings 

We can also schedule “office hours” onsite in your department for drop-in CV and resume reviews and general inquiries.
