The Graduate School’s new student orientation for the Fall 2021 semester will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021. Dr. Jeni Hart, Dean of the Graduate School will welcome you to graduate study at MU, introduce you to the ways in which the Graduate School can assist you as you pursue a graduate degree or certificate at MU, and provide important campus updates. Our extremely popular student panel will be on hand to share wisdom and answer questions about life in Columbia, the importance of developing a healthy (school)work-life balance, and how to navigate relationships with colleagues and mentors while getting the most of your time at MU. While this event is not mandatory, we strongly encourage you to review the online orientation materials and videos. There will be information applicable to online and on-campus graduate students.
Additional orientation materials will be available in early August!
If you are unable to join us on August 16th, the session will be recorded for viewing at your convenience.
New This Fall: We will be introducing a series of breakout sessions, to be held at various times during the week of August 16th, covering a variety of graduate student specific topics. Additional information will be posted in early July.
Grad Welcome Groups: In addition to orientation activities, we encourage you to consider participating in a Grad Welcome Group. Groups meet weekly in person or online during the first six weeks of the fall semester with loosely structured agendas to help new graduate students navigate the graduate student experience. This is an excellent way to form connections with other students and allows open dialogue and advice on tops ranging from communicating with your advisor to parking! You will have the opportunity to opt-in to participating later this summer when New Graduate Student Orientation Registration is available.
