Chair/Director Role in Advisor Selection and Faculty Workload
The Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) will sign off on advisor changes for graduate students. As appropriate, the DGS will inform the department chair or responsible person for workload assignments in programs that are within a department for workload assignment purposes.

Responsible Conduct of Research Training
Responsible Conduct of Research training should be required for all new graduate students prior to engaging in research activities (as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations “a systematic investigation, including research development, testing and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge”), in addition to any specific further training required by the nature of their work, or the IRB or the IACUC.

Automatic Graduate Status A for Certain Faculty
All newly hired faculty with terminal degrees, TT and NTT, in units that offer graduate programs, will automatically be granted Graduate Faculty Status A. Otherwise, applications must be submitted to the Graduate School for evaluation and approval.

Artificial Intelligence Policy for Graduate Education

Graduate Program Restart
To help graduate students who were unsuccessful previously to have a fresh restart for the same graduate degree program at MU. The student must apply to the restart program and meet the following criteria: Previously admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at MU. A GPA below 3.0 in their previous MU graduate program. Vacation Policy for Graduate Assistantships
All graduate students in qualifying assistantships (graduate teaching assistantship, graduate research assistantship, graduate instructor, graduate library assistant, graduate fellow, and graduate professional assistantship) are entitled to paid vacation time. Students with a 12-month stipend are entitled to two weeks (10 working days) of paid vacation time per academic calendar year (August 1 through July 31 of the following year). Students with shorter appointments are entitled to a pro-rated amount of paid vacation time per academic year. Doctoral Faculty Mentor Training Policy
All newly hired assistant professors who will advise doctoral students at MU must complete University-provided mentor training in order to be eligible for doctoral faculty status. Academic units may establish further policy for mentor training requirements for remaining faculty.
