Finding a part-time job while pursuing your graduate studies can be a great way to gain valuable experience, earn extra income, and connect with the campus community. Here are some tips to help you get started:
- Connect with Handshake (HireMizzouTigers.com): Handshake is Mizzou’s go-to platform for part-time job opportunities on campus. Create a profile and regularly check for job postings that align with your skills and interests. This platform connects you directly with campus employers who are eager to hire students.
- Attend the Part-Time Campus Job Fair: Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 5th, and head over to Lowry Mall between Noon and 3 PM for the Part-Time Campus Job Fair. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet campus employers in person. Remember to bring your ID, copies of your resume, and your class schedule. While casual dress is welcome, be prepared to make a great first impression.
- Seek Assistance from One of Our Graduate Career Coaches: Need help with your resume, job search, or interview prep? Make an appointment with one of our graduate career coaches! Our dedicated coaches, Audra Jenkins and Dr. Laura Roesch, are available for both in-person and virtual meetings. Schedule an appointment through MU Connect or email them at gradcareer@missouri.edu.
- Create Your U.S.-Style Resume: Are you an international graduate student working on writing or updating your resume? Join the graduate career coaches for a workshop designed for you on Friday, August 30 at 1 PM in the Grad Hub (111F Townsend Hall). Learn about what U.S. employers are (and aren’t) looking for in a resume, so that you can apply to on-campus or full-time positions with confidence. See more details and register on MU Engage.
Balancing a part-time job with your studies can be challenging, but with the right resources and preparation, it’s entirely manageable. Take advantage of these opportunities to enhance your experience at Mizzou!
